Olivier de Pierrebourg

Olivier Harty de Pierrebourg (July 10th 1908 with Vauxbuin - August 22nd 1973, Paris) is a Politician French and a Compagnon of the Release.

Biography

Formation

Direct descendant of the general Olivier Harty, baron de Pierrebourg (1746 - 1823), Olivier de Pierrebourg carries out studies of letters before entering as writer (journalist) to the Agence Havas. He in parallel exerts the functions of secretary near the Socialist André Philip, become appointed of Lyon in 1936.

The second world war

Demobilized like Candidate in 1940, Olivier de Pierrebourg organizes as of November 1940 with Lyon a die of passages for refugees. Under cover of association " Friendships chrétiennes" that it created in May 1941, it will manage to make evacuate France or put in safety hundreds of refugees, children Juif S and political personalities (whose André Philip), at the same time as it ensures of the tasks of information for network of Résistance. Post-war period

Olivier Harty de Pierrebourg is elected Député of the Creuse in 1951 with the label " radical-socialiste" , re-elected in 1956, in this department where the Communist party is then very powerful (PCF obtains there indeed practically 47% of the votes cast with the elections of January 2nd, 1956). Rejoined with the General de Gaulle in 1958, and fascinating party for the " oui" at the constitutional referendum, Olivier de Pierrebourg will preserve his seat of deputy of the Creuse (district of Guéret, or 1st district of the Creuse starting from 1958) until his death in 1973. In 1957, it had been elected general adviser of Guéret, then mayor of the city in 1971.

One (modest) street of Guéret bears the name of Olivier de Pierrebourg.
