Olivier Py , born the Fatty July 24th 1965 with , is an author of contemporary French theater. He is also actor, director and realizer.
Formed with ENSATT and the Conservatory higher national of dramatic art, Olivier Py also studied philosophy and theology. It is named at age the 32 years director of the national dramatic center of Orleans. It becomes directing in March 2007 of the theater of Odéon.
Its work published is already important. Let us quote the Maidservant , the Winners , the Face of Orphée , the Exaltation of the labyrinth , the merry Apocalypse . Among his influences, one can quote Paul Claudel, Jean Giraudoux, Jean Genet, Copi and Jean-Luc Lagarce. It could at the same time assert a catholic faith and an New-Old spirit. In fact, its theater is marked by a rather manifest political commitment and an exaltation of the life in all its forms. Its style is varied: it uses dialogs, scenes with several and monologs. Prose leaves sometimes the place with the worms, or songs. The tone is sometimes serious, tragic, political, sometimes light, funny, even grotesque when the scene becomes joke. It is presented also sometimes in an exceptional form where several parts are connected.
It knew to renew the setting in scene and scenography. Greeted for its integral of the Shoe of Satin of Claudel and its settings in scene with the opera, he was prize winner of the Foundation Beaumarchais, Prix New Théâtre/SACD Talent in 1996 and Prix Young Theater of the French Academy.
He is also the author of a novel, Paradis of sadness .
