Olivier Gendebien
Olivier Gendebien (born the January 12th 1924 with Brussels - died the October 2nd 1998 with the Beams of Provence, France) was a racing driver Belgian.
Biography
Agricultural engineer who was distinguished during the second world war while taking an active part in resistance (it was used as man of connection for the British agents infiltrated in Belgium), Olivier Gendebien discovers the automobile sport in Congo, where its community activities led it. Initiated to the joys of the rally, it turns over to Belgium to begin its career. Its successes are worth a growing reputation to him, and Enzo Ferrari contacts it to become pilot official Scuderia Ferrari. Pilot tester in Formule 1 (what enables him to dispute several GP punctually), it is especially in his membership of the team of Endurance that it builds an impressive prize list. He thus gains 4 times the 24 hours of Mans (including 3 times as a crew with Phil Hill), 3 times the 12 hours of Sebring and 3 times the Targa Florio.----
