Olivier Charbonneau

Olivier Charbonneau (born in France, in the area of Marans, in Aunis, Charente-Maritime, about 1613; died on the Island of Montreal on November 20th, 1687), is a Pionnier of '' City-Marie '' (today, Montreal), in News-France, and the first inhabitant of the Île Jesus (today, town of Laval), and the patronymic ancestor of some 35.000 Charbonneau living today in North America, like (by Anne, its oldest daughter) of all the Labelle. In addition to the demographic importance of its descent, its role in News-France, at the time, is recognized today in North America, of which in Quebec.

Biography

Migration

In search of a better future, with his wife and their two year old daughter (Anne) it embarks for the Nouvelle France on the Saint-Andrew with the port of La Rochelle the July 2nd 1659. -   Ten years later (on October 10th, 1669, in City-Marie, in front of the notary Benign Basset hound), it will sign an act of general receipt, with regard to all these debtors of this 2nd great recruit for City-Marie. These debts were enormous, equivalent for each family to more than one year of the annual salary of a workman of time. Could they really all refund? Surely not, but their debt will be forever unobtrusive, thanks to Jeanne Mance and with her generous givers.

The couple and its child thus form part of the eight families of the Aunis, and connected, which then begin by this contract to migrate in News-France.
