The Košarkarski klub Union Olimpija Ljubljana is a Slovenien club of Basket-ball, based in the capital of the country: Ljubljana. It is, by far, the club more titrated country.
History
August 1st
The club was founded in
1946 like section of the
general sports Club called
Svoboda Ljubljana (
Svoboda meaning
Liberté ). Nevertheless the club changes name as of the end of the year to become the
Enotnost Ljubljana . This general sports club and one of most prolific of the country, and again will change name into
1954 to become
AŠK Olimpija . In
1957 the section obtains its first national title, it will gain of them 5 others until the independence of the
Slovenia. The assessment of its participation in the Yugoslav championship is summarized with: 42 played seasons, 479 victories, 353 defeats and 10 matches no one. In term of points the assessment of 70.466 point registered and 66.503 is boxed. Then the section basketball associates its name has that of the principal sponsors and thus changes rather frequently. All this before becoming the
Union Olimpija in
1997.
With the independence of the Slovenia a new era starts for the club. It is transformed thus little by little into a fish pond of young player, and thus feeds the Slovenien birth selection. That does not prevent it from continuing to affirm its force in Europe, and its victory in Coupe of Europe is there to only testify to this dynamics.

As many clubs of Basketball, the Olimpija Union has its own troop of cheerleaders called the Lady dragons ( Zmajčice ). This troop also accommodates two troops of young people, and to the Basket-ball puiqu' it is not limited already took part in events in Hockey and Volley-ball.
The room
The first room of Olimpija was the Tabor gymnasium. The Dvorana Tivoli was built in
1965. With a capacity of 6.000 places it is the room of the Olimpjia Union but also of the team of
Hockey local:
HDD ZM Olimpija .
