Olga Konstantinovna of Russia (in Russian ВеликаяКняжнаОльгаКонстантиновна) (September 3rd 1851 - June 18th 1926)
As a girl of the Large-Duke Constantin Nicolaevitch of Russia and Alexandra of Saxony-Altenbourg (Alexandra Iosifovna), born princess of Saxony-Altenbourg, it had been born Her Imperial Majesty the Large-Duchess Olga Konstantinovna from Russia. She was Reine King de Grèce Georges Ier and as from 1920, Régente of Greece.
Grand-daughter of the Tsar Nicolas Ier, it was the cousin of the Tsar Alexandre III and the Tsar Nicolas II.
She met young king de Grèce whereas he had come to return visit to his Dagmar sister, the wife of Danish origin of the Tsar Alexandre III. They fell in love and married in 1867.
They had eight children:
- Constantin (1868-1923), which succeeded his/her father on the throne of Greece.
- Georges (1869-1957), High commissioner in Crete, which married in 1907 Marie Bonaparte (July 2nd, 1882 - September 21st, 1962).
- Alexandra (1870-1891), wife of the Large-Duke Paul Alexandrovich of Russia (wire of Alexandre II) and mother of Dimitri Pavlovich Romanov, one of the assassins of Raspoutine.
- Nicolas of Greece (1872-1938)
- Maria of Greece (1876-1940), which married initially the Large-Duke Georges Mikhaïlovitch of Russia (1863-1919) then in second weddings Périclés Ioannides.
- Olga (1881, died in three months)
- Andre (1882-1944), father of the Prince Philippe, Duke of Edinburgh, husband of the queen Elisabeth II of Great Britain.
- Christopher (1888-1940), father of Prince Michel of Greece.
It became Régente after the death of his grandson, Alexandre Ier, bitten by a monkey on October 25th, 1920, until the return on the throne of her son Constantin.
It engaged in an important caritative work, like the financing of the Evangelismos hospital in the center town of Athens, the largest hospital of Greece. That made of it the most popular queen of the Greece.
