Old world
The old world refers to the part of the world known by Europeans since antiquity before the voyages of Christophe Colomb: Europe, Asia, and Africa (Eurafrasie). By distinction with the New World, the Americas.
The Italian Cartographe FRA Mauro charted the Old world in 1459 with a surprising precision. It was named “geographicus incomparabilis”. It is undoubtedly the most precise image which one had of the Old world before the discovery of the New world by Christophe Colomb.
It is noted nevertheless that the Carte in T still remains in 1472.
