Old woman-Church-in-Yvelines

Old woman-Church-in-Yvelines is a common French, located in the department of the Yvelines and the area Île-de-France. The common one belongs to the Regional natural park of the high valley of Chevreuse and the Communauté of communes of the plains and forests of Yveline.

Its inhabitants is called the Abattiens .

Geography

The commune of Hurdy-gurdy-Church-in-Yvelines is with six kilometers surroundings in the North-East of Rambouillet. Its territory, wedged in the Forest of Rambouillet, extends on a plate between 175 and 170 meters from altitude, light inclined towards south-east where the valley of the Drouette starts. It includes/understands the northern half of the pond of the Tower, work artificial dating from the XVIIe century.

The territory rural with more than 90% is divided with equal shares between arable lands devoted to cereal field crop in its north-eastern part and of the wooded areas in the west (green Forest) and south-east, belonging essentially to the national forest of Rambouillet. The habitat of the individual type is grouped in the borough.

The communes bordering are Auffargis in north and in the east, That-the-Border It in south-east, Clairefontaine-in-Yvelines in the south, Rambouillet in the west and Perray-in-Yvelines in the North-West.

The service road is assured mainly by the secondary road D 73 which crosses the commune according to a North-South axis. Two transverse roads, the D 61 and the D 906 cross the territory to north and the south.

The railway line Paris-Chartres crosses the commune in its western part in the forest, without station of local service road.

The Sentier of great excursion GR. 1 (turn of the Ile-de-France) crosses the commune.

Inheritance

  • Saint-Gilles Church: stone building of XVIe century, modified at the XIXe century. Work finished on September 1st, 1849, day of the Saint-Gilles. The church has étét restored in 1980.
  • Aqueduc of Old woman-Church: 660 meters length, this underground aqueduct is used for the transfer of water between the pond of the Tower and the pond of Perray. This work belonged to the system of water provision of the castle of Versailles implemented under Louis IX
