Old age minimum

The minimum old age is a French social security benefit versed without counterpart of contribution, created in 1956. Its objective is to bring a complement of resources to carry at the level of the minimum old age the incomes of the elderly having weak means of existence.

Who can profit from it?

The old age minimum is intended for any person:
    65 years old
  • or 60 years in certain cases (inapt for work, war veteran, working mother…) ;
  • of French nationality or foreign nationality, provided in this case to provide a proof of the regularity of the stay in France;
  • residing in France.

The old age minimum is versed under conditions of resources: the annual resources of the applicant, allowance included/understood, must be lower than 7635,53 € for a person alone, and 13374,16 € for a couple.

Which is rising old age minimum?

At September 1st, 2007, the old age minimum rises with 7455,30 € per annum for a person alone, and 13374,16 € for a couple.

The Old age Minimum is replaced by the Allowance of solidarity to elderly (ASPA)

As from on January 1st, 2006, the old age minimum is replaced by the Allocation of Solidarity to the Elderly (ASPA). This single allowance comes to into force replace the whole of the services of social solidarity until now for the elderly. Indeed, the old age minimum was not a single allowance but the generic name given to a whole of services (Allocation with the old employed persons, special Allocation old age, help for life, additional allowance, allowance with the mothers of at least five children, etc) to which could claim the elderly having of no right or insufficient rights.
