Old Trafford (called the Theater of the Dreams by Sir Bobby Charlton) is a Football stadium located in the county of the Grand Manchester, in England. It is the résisdence of Manchester United.
History
The enclosure accommodates the matches of the club of Manchester United, which occupied previously the stage of Bank Street. This stage of 76.000 places, conceived by the Scottish architect Archibald Leitch, was inaugurated the February 19th 1910 by a match of championship disputed between Manchester United and Liverpool FC.The record of multitude is of 76.962 spectators the March 25th 1939 for a match of F Cup opponent Wolverhampton and Grimsby Town FC.
Competitions
During its history the stage mancunien accommodated many meetings of F Cup and is often selected to dispute the semi-finals of F Cup in ground " neutre" , as well as matches of the team of England of football during the construction of the stage of Wembley. Restorations
Old Trafford was damaged by the bombardments at the time of the Second world war, which obliged the club to divide the lawn of Maine Road, the stage of the rival club of Manchester City, until 1949.The ground was equipped with a lighting system for the matches in night in March 1957. The stage was called (the theater of the dreams) by Bobby Charlton.
It was recently increased to reach a capacity of 76.000 places.
