Olaus Magnus , born in 1490 with Östergötland and dead the 1557 with Rome, is a monk and writer Swedish.
Biography
He was Archidiacre of the Cathédrale of
Strängnäs when the Réforme was preached in
Sweden. As attached to the
Catholicism as his/her brother Jean Magnus,
Archbishop of
Uppsala, they left Sweden and were withdrawn with
Rome. On died of Jean, the Pape conferred on Olaus the archbishop's palace of Uppsala, but it could not take possession of this dignity, nor of that of Chanoine of the cathedral of Posen, which had been promised to him by Sigismond Ier, king of
Poland. Olaus spent its last years in the monastery of
Holy-Brigitte, in Rome, remaining of a small income which the pope had assigned to him. He died and was buried beside his brother in the church of the
the Vatican.

Messenius allots to him Epitome revelationum S. Brigittœ which must be printed in Rome.
A monumental Swedish translation of the work - accompanied by a comment and extremely excavated notes due to Professor J. Granlund - were drawn up between 1909 and 1951 by Michaelisgillet of Stockholm, and were published at Gidlunds in four volumes. There is also an annotated English translation, in three volumes, published by E.Foote between 1996 and 1998 pennies the patronage of Hakluyt Society of London. With regard to the French language, some extracts of the book were registered with the catalog of the editions the Beautiful Letters in 2004.
