Ojo de Antofalla

The Ojo de Antofalla (in French eye of Antofalla ) is a Stratovolcan of Argentine, considered as extinct. It is located in the province of Catamarca, with the latitude of 25° 26′ 53" south and with the longitude of 68° 05′ 36" west. It belongs to the group of Argentinian volcanos constituting the solid mass of the Antofalla, but is completely independent of this last.

It draws up very near (7 km) volcano Onas. It has the important effect of having a top bifide caused by the collapse of its crater. Indeed, following an important explosive eruption occurred formerly, the volcano crumbled (collapse), but laterally north-western side, with the result that very important volcanic castings are directed in this direction.

The volcano Ojo de Antofalla is located at more or less 25 kilometers in the North-West of the crater of the volcano Antofalla, and with about fifteen kilometers in the north of the volcano Lila.

Other tops are close also to Ojo de Antofalla. One finds with large ten kilometers in the North-West, the cone of the Abra Grande, as well as the Pajonal.
