Oisemont is a common French, located in the department of the Somme and the area Picardy.

Geography

This borough is located on the axis Amiens (40kilometers) - Have in the maritime Seine (33kilometers). The commune is with 31kilometers of the English Channel as the crow flies. Its territory of 804 hectares is bordered by 9 communes:

in north Cerisy-Buleux, Fresne-Tilloloy and Neuville-with-Wood,
in the east Forceville-in-Vimeu, Woirel and Fountain-the-Dryness,
in the south Cannessières,
in the western south Villeroy,
in the west Rambures.

History

Charles de Gaulle, promoted Brigadier general on June 1st, 1940, installs its headquarters to the Castle-Caline on June 2nd, 1940.

Personalities related to the commune

Jean-Charles-Nicolas DUMONT, adviser of the king, considers royal country of Vimeu, jurisconsult.

Andre DUMONT, wire of Jean-Charles-Nicolas, born in Oisemont on May 24th, 1764. In 1790, he is mayor of Oisemont. He enters in policy and the departmental administration of the Sum. The department sends it to sit at Convention in 1792.

It is classified among the Mountain dwellers. He is regicide. He becomes then impetuous Thermidorien. He is president of Convention the 1st vendémiaire year III (September 21st, 1795). Favorable to the coup d'etat of brumaire, it is named sub-prefect of Abbeville, posts that it preserves until 1814. He is prefect of the Pas-de-Calais thereafter during the Hundred Days. Exiled in 1816, it goes to Belgium. It returns in 1830 and is withdrawn in Abbeville where it finishes its life in 1838.
