Oignin

The Oignin is a French Rivière which runs in the department of the Ain (01) in area the Rhone-Alps. It is an affluent of the Ain out of left bank, therefore a tributary of a tributary of the the Rhone.

Geography

Oignin is the resultant of the junction, on the level of Maillat, of Borrey which takes its source in the marsh of Aranc and of the Doye of Condamines which begins with the Marron pond. One regards Borrey as being the higher course of Oignin. The orientation of the course of Oignin is constant and almost rectilinear south towards north.

It is thrown in the Ain on the territory of Samognat, a little downstream from the reserve of Coiselet.

Fish

Oignin is a very full of fish river classified in first category almost throughout its course. It is a salmonicole river where the Truite (Truite fario in particular) is the definitely prevalent species. One fishes there also the frank loach, minnow, the chub, the shade commun run, the Brochet, the pole, the Bremen, the carp, the Tanche, the Chevesne, etc…
