Ogeu-the-Baths is a common French, located in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques and the area Aquitaine.

Hydrography

The grounds of the commune are sprinkled by affluents of the Gave d' Oloron, the Gave d' Ossau, the brooks the Escou (and by its tributary, the Bidou brook), Moulias (and by its tributary, the Lapeyre brook), of Trébès, of Rachette, Hourquet, Termy, and Turon.

The brook Baysole (and its tributary, the brook Brésiau), which is thrown in the Bayse, also runs on the territory of the commune.

Toponymy

The toponym Ogeu appears in the forms Oyeup (1376, military watch of Béarn), Oyeu (1385, censier of Béarn), Sancti Justus and Pastor d' Ogeu (1654, insinuations of the diocese of Oloron), Ougeu (1675, reformation of Béarn) and Augeu (1758, enumeration of Lucq).

History

Paul Raymond note that in 1385, Ogeu counted 40 fires and depended on the Bailliage of Oloron.

Economy

The village of Ogeu-the-Baths is famous for its mineral water extracted by the SEMO (company of mineral water of Ogeu). A manufacturing factory PCC of the parts of aviation is there also implantée.
The activity is mainly agricultural (mixed-farming, breeding, pastures).
A station the SNCF is in service on the Ligne Pau-Canfranc.
