Offwiller
Offwiller is a common French, located in the department of the the Low-Rhine and the area Alsace.
The common one belongs to the Regional natural park of the Vosges of North.
Geography
History
The village is a possession of the duke of Lorraine, then of the bishop of Strasbourg, pledged with the Lichtenberg and their successors, 14th century until the Révolution.
The village is the seat of a Commanderie of the knights teutonic of Dahn, founded at the 13th century and secularized at the 17th century.

One knows few things of the church known as Frauenkirch (Notre-Dame) which, according to certain authors, would be a conventual church. It would have been built at the 14th century or with the 15th century and it is quoted for the first time in 1450. It is known that in 1507 it is in bad condition, and that in 1760 it is abandoned.
Protesting
The Réforme is introduced into the village in 1560. One knows nothing the buildings of worship, which are destroyed during the Guerre Thirty Year old. An inscription in German above the main door gives us the dates of construction of the current temple; work began in June 1824 and the finished building is inaugurated in December 1826. An interior restoration takes place in October 1908. The rebuilding of the church, disaster victim at the time of the conflicts of 1945, lasts of 1955 with 1957.

Places and monuments
The house of the village of Offwiller is a museum of arts and traditions popular. It restores the framework of life of a small farmer of the the Vosges of North at the 19th century. Tools and ustensils domestic, agricultural and artisanal are presented in a house going back to 1782.
Culture
A habit which persists still nowadays: the “Schieweschlawe”, throw of discs ignited Sunday after Shrove Tuesday.
