Official (hockey)

In addition to the referees, a match of Hockey requires a certain number of official , which do not have direct impact on the play. They fill of the administrative offices and council.

Judge goal

The judge of goal determines if a player marked a goal by checking if the metal disc (or disc) with completely crossed the line of goal. A judge of goal is placed outside the skating rink, behind each net of goal. If the skating rink is equipped, the judge of goal lights a red light behind the cage in the event of registered goal. This official acts only like advising. The referee has only authority to validate a goal and can pass in addition to the opinion of a judge of goal.

Judge video goal

The judge of video goal views the video images of disputed goals. The referee not having access to the monitors vidéos, the opinion of this judge is not contestable. In LNH, the goals can be only disputed in the following situations:
  • goal marked right before end the one period,
  • goal marked right before désoclement of the cages,
  • goal marked with the hand or the foot,
  • goal marked after a deviation by a referee,
  • goal marked with a high stick.

Official marker

He has in load the recording of the sheet of match, by noting the goal, assistances and penalties. He must also obtain the list of the players before the beginning of the match. He is generally located in height compared to the skating rink.

Official of penalties

Present in each bench of penalty, it authorizes the players penalized to leave the prison at the end of their sanction.

Time clerk of play

It controls all the temporal elements of the match: beginning and end of the periods, the penalties and idle periods.

This official informs the public of the goals and assistances and the end of the penalties.
