Offices of control of the Ski lifts

The Bureaux of control of the Ski lifts are organizations of control with competence local created in 1998 and attached to DDE of the departments concerned. They thus depend on the Ministère of Ecology, the Development and Installation durable and work in collaboration with the Engineering service of the Ski lifts and guided Transport (STRMTG). Their branch of industry relates to the ski lift and in certain cases, guided transport ( tourist railroads, Tramway, travelators …).

It can be a question of departmental Bureaux of the Ski lifts ( BDRM ) or of interdépartementaux Bureaux of the Ski lifts ( BIRM ). Certains BIRM was seen entrusted since 2003, the control of the guided transport ( BIRMTG ).

Activities

Ski lifts

For the new apparatuses, it prepares and informs the files of authorization of work and introduction on behalf of the prefect, for the delivery of the assent to the mayor.

For the apparatuses in service, it ensures a follow-up of periodic controls of the components of the apparatuses (pulleys, cables, grips…). The apparatuses are the subject of checks in exploitation (behavior of the driver, installations, management of the customers…). The office takes part in the checks (brakes, safety devices…) who take place once per annum, except exploitation (except Téléski S). It ensures also a follow-up of major inspection (except skis-lift) where each apparatus is the subject of a thorough visit (disassembling, preventive maintenance… at the end of 15 years, then every 10 years, then every 5 years). It makes sure that the owner carries out at least a exercise of rescue each year according to the rescue plan which defines the intervention of the owner in the event of prolonged stopping of the apparatus.

the office manages also certain businesses such as modifications of apparatuses, investigations into the components and the investigations making following an accident.

Guided transport

Each prefect and DDE (by delegation) is competent, in its department, for the authorization and the control of guided transport.

The BIRMTG have the load of the technical control of the operational safety and the setting-up of the requests for authorization to exploit. These attributions are defined by a decree of the June 20th 2003 of the minister in charge for transport. ( to see Official journal July 4th 2003)

The STRMTG ensures, with local DDE, the field of the transport guided for the departments of the Corsica , the Guadeloupe, the Martinique and the Réunion.

The missions of the BIRMTG are defined by a convention passed directly with each DDE concerned.
