The fort of Of the department of Var belongs to the defensive complex around Dijon established for the defense of the border of the East, in the years 1870.
It affects the shape of a “isosceles trapezoid”, delimited by the ditches and fortifications. The whole of constructions is covered with topsoil.
It was first of all occupied by the garrison of the 27e of line, then, at the time of the two world wars, like prison camp. Downgraded in 1954, given to the Fields, converted into inn of youth, it was acquired in 1972 by the Town of Dijon, placed at the disposal of air base 102 between 1982 and 1985, then sold to an owner privé.
It occupies a surface of 9,87 hectares, including approximately 3.000 m livable, in two bodies of buildings, on three levels, corresponding to quarterings, fortifications, batteries, room with poudre.
Shelters, casemates, ditches and defenses represent the remainder of surface construite.
