Of Arcy-McGee (provincial district)

Of Arcy-McGee is a provincial electoral constituency Quebec located in the area of Montreal. The current deputy is the liberal Lawrence S. Bergman. He was elected for the first time at the election of 1994

History

Preceded by: Montreal-Outremont and Westmount-Saint-Georges

The district of Arcy-McGee was created in 1965 following the abolition of the districts of Montreal-Outremont and Westmount-Saint-Georges. The territory of the district was modified at the time of the reform of 1972 to integrate certain parts of the districts of Our-Lady-of-Grace, Outremont and Westmount. It will remain indentic until the reform of 1992 where part of the voters of the district of Our-Lady-of-Grace (: 3980 voters) will join the district of Arcy-McGee.

In addition to at the time of the election of 1989, Of Arcy-McGee was always represented by a liberal deputy . It is besides about the district which receuille, since several years, strongest majorities towards its deputy. With the election of 2003, Lawrence S. Bergman had obtained 91,29% of the voices.

The name of the district comes from the one of the fathers of the Canadian Fédération, Thomas D' Arcy McGee.

Territory and limits

The district of Arcy-McGee being itself on the totality of the two municipalities of Dimension-Saint-Luc and Hampstead. Moreover, the portion East and the North-East of the district are on the territory of the Town of Montreal. The total supercifie of Arcy-McGee is of 10.94 km2 for a population of: 59325 people in 2001.
