Oenotriens
The Œnotriens were people of ancient Italy which occupied the territory which corresponds to the current areas of the Basilicate and Calabria as well as Cilento (province of Salerno) towards XVIe century A.C. According to Denys d' Halicarnasse and other Greek historians, they would be originating in the Peloponnese and the same ethnos group of the Arcadiens, first inhabitants of continental Greece of Helene stock. Œnotriens drove out initially the Sicules before being driven out or compare to their turn by the related Lucaniens with the Samnites in Ve century.
Œnotriens had also the reputation of large farmers of vine. Among their cities, have knows Cosenza and Pandosia.
