  • François d' Assise: born Jean Bernardone in 1182. Initially fore-mentioned Jean by his mother, it was famous Françesco by his father. He spent one year in prison in 1202, following a war between Perugia and Assise. He converts at 24 years, and founded, in 1209, the monastic order of the franciscains. He preached the faith in Syria, then in Spain. On its return, it altered the rule franciscaine. It created its first French convent minor brothers with Vézelay.
