Octavo
see also: Etymology of Octavo
The octavo , also noted in-8° and sometimes marked in-eight , is a form of delivers where the printed sheet was folded three times, thus giving eight layers, that is to say sixteen pages. The octavo is more or less large, according to the extended of the sheet.
At the 17th century and the 18th century, the octavos have a format close to current a5 format (i.e. half of surface of a usual sheet of paper of the data-processing printers of office).
