Ocelot

The ocelot ( Leopardus pardalis or in the past Felis pardalis ) is a wild Chat which lives in South America and in Central America. One also meets it in the south-east of the Texas, with the the United States. He lives in different Biotope S: marsh, mangroves, meadows, bushes, tropical forests. Description

The ocelot is a rather small animal, the male weighs between 9 and approximately 13 kg and measures from 85 to 100 cm of the head to the tail. The female is smaller. Reproduction

Food

The ocelot is carnivorous, its preys favorite are the Rongeur S like the rats, the mice and the agoutis. But its food mode includes/understands also Oiseau X, Serpent S, Poisson S, Lézard S or terrestrial Crabe S.

Hunting

The ocelot drives out on the ground even if he generally lives in the trees the day. It drives out normally during the night but hunting can continue the morning especially if it rains or that there are clouds.

A species in danger

One estimates the population of ocelots from 800.000 to 1.500.000, but it is a species driven out for its beautiful fur.
