Observatory of Llano de Chajnantor
The Observatory of Llano de Chajnantor ( llano in Spanish meaning " plateau") astronomical Observatoire is a , located at an altitude of 5104m, in the Désert of Atacama, with the Chile, 50 km in the north of the village of San Pedro de Atacama. It is a site extremely dry, inhospitable, but perfectly adapted to the submillimeter observations . Indeed, the Steam absorbs and attenuates the Radiation in the wavelengths submillimeter. Llano de Chajnantor is the site of several astronomical projects, of which the network of antennas Broad Atacama Millimeter Array, an américano-European project.
