Observatory of Apache Not
The Observatoire of Apache Point is a astronomical Observatoire located in the mountains of Sacramento close to Sunspot at 29 km of Cloudcroft, with the New Mexico (the United States.
The observatory includes/understands a Télescope of 3,5 m pertaining to the astrophysical Consortium of research, the telescope of 2,5 m of the Sloan DIGITAL Sky Survey and telescopes it of 1 m of the Université of the State of New Mexico. Like all the professional observatories, the access to the telescopes is restricted, but the public can walk on the site and benefit from the center which includes a model of the telescope of 3,5 m as well as plates coming from the Sloan telescope.
In 2004, the telescope of 3,5 m was modified to be able to accommodate a Laser (APOLLO) of which the goal is to measure the distance Ground - the Moon (like what is currently done with CERGA). This laser is operational since 2005.
