Oblast of Moscow
The oblast of Moscow (Московскаяобласть, Подмосковье) is a federate entity of the Fédération of Russia , a Oblast officially created on January 14th, 1929.
The town of Moscow is located on the territory of the oblast of Moscow, but has a particular territorial statute, that of federal city, and thus constitutes a federated entity with whole share (as well as Saint-Pétersbourg). Thus, the town of Moscow is thus wedged in the oblast of Moscow all while about it being excluded.
The oblast of Moscow has a population of 6,41 million inhabitants (2002), which does not include the 8,40 million the town of Moscow (2002).
