Oblast de Sverdlovsk
The oblast of Sverdlovsk (in Russian: Свердловскаяобласть , Sverdlovskaïa oblast ) is a federal entity Russian (Oblast). Its governor is Edouard Rossel.
The territory of the Oblast of Sverdlosk is located on the buttresses is the Ural like in the Western plain of Siberia. Although a small portion of the oblast is located on the Western slope of the Ural, one can consider that it is about the oblast more populated of Russia of Asia.
The Oblast of Sverdlovsk has a surface of 194.100 square kilometers and a population of 4.428.229 inhabitants (census of January 2005).
The administrative center is Iekaterinbourg (formerly named Sverdlovsk), with a population of: 1304251 people; historically, the centers were Nijni-Taguil, Kamensk-Ouralski, Pervoouralsk, Sérov, Novouralsk, Asbest and Irbit.
The Russian colonization of the area started in 1723 with the creation of a Fortin with Iekaterinbourg.
The former Russian president Boris Eltsine (1991-1999) was born in 1931 (death in 2007) in the village from Boutka located in this oblast.
The oblast includes/understands many mining resources such as the Pétrole, the Or and the Platine. The principal branches of industry are the mechanical engineering, the transformation of metals and the mines.
