Oblast de Saratov
The oblast of Saratov (in) is an area (Oblast) of Russia of Europe.
The area is at the south-east of the Plaine of Eastern Europe on both sides of the the Volga. In the west of the river the area is undulating while to the east extend from the plains.
The area has a border in the east with the Kazakhstan. The autonomous Soviet socialist Republic of the Germans of the Volga, dissolved after the Second world war, belonged to the area.
Russian colonization started at the 16th century with the creation of a fortress with Saratov. The trade along the Volga always played a great part in the urban development.
The economic sectors most important are the extraction of the Gaz and the Pétrole, the aeronautical Construction, the Chemical industry and the Agribusiness industry.
The principal cities are the capital Saratov and the towns of Engels, Balakovo, Balachov and Volsk.
