Oblast de Mourmansk
The Oblast de Mourmansk () is a Oblast of Russia. It is located at the extreme north it Russia of Europe. Its surface is of 144 900 km ², its population of: 892534 inhabitants (in 2002). Its administrative center is Mourmansk.
Geography
The oblast of Mourmansk corresponds geographically to the Péninsule of Cola. It is surrounded in north by the Mer of Barents, in the south and the east by the White Mer, in the west by the Finland and the Norway, in the south by the Russian area of Karelia.This area has as a capital Mourmansk, home port of the nuclear Brise-glace of the Russian Arctique . The military city close to Severomorsk is the home port of the Flotte of Russian North. Nature keeps in this area a dominating place with landscapes of Toundra and Taiga, as well as many rivers.
Demography
This area known in the years 1990 an important reduction in its population and counts in 2005 approximately 1 million inhabitants, composed for 92% of a Russian population of origin , 4% Ukrainian, 3% Belorusse . The remainder of the population is composed of various ethnos groups autochtones: Saami, Nénètses, Komi, Caréliens, Finnish, Norwegian.The population of the oblast concentrates in some large cities whose principal ones are Mourmansk, Montchegorsk, Kandalakcha and Apatity.
