Object of the deep sky

In Astronomie, the objects of the deep sky indicate the objects of the night sky other than those Solar system (the Planet S, the Comet S and the Asteroid S), the simple star S and the multiple stars. Generally these objects are not visible with the naked eye, but most brilliant of them can beings seen with small a Télescope or even with a good pair of Jumelles.

These objects are the following:

The catalogs of Messier gathers 110 of these objects and the New General Catalogs contains some nearly 8000. These catalogs as well as others more specialized, such as the Uppsala General Catalogs , are currently especially used by the astronomers amateurs like the simple ones collections of objects to be observed or to test their equipment and their skill of observation.

The Marathon Messier consists in observing in only one night the 110 objects of the catalog, which is only possible in March or in April. In the same vein, but much more difficult and intended for larger telescopes, there exist the 400 of Herschel ; i.e. observation of a selection of 400 objects coming from a catalog compiled by William Herschel.
