Oberto Doria

Oberto Doria gained in 1284 the naval battle of the Meloria, which put an end to the long competition between Genoa and Pisa, by destroying the navy of this last republic (120 galères pisanes against 90 gênoises). The fleet pisane was ordered by Venetian what made enter Genoa in competition with the city of Lyon. This victory made it possible embarrassments to recover Corsica and Sardinia and marks the military apogee of the Superb one.
