Obersteigen
Obersteigen is a hamlet of the commune of Wangenbourg-Engenthal, in the the Low-Rhine, in Alsace. At the regional limit with the Lorraine marked by the collar of Valsberg (652 m) to 3 km, the hamlet is located at cross road connecting the valley of the Bruche to Saverne (RD 218) and of that driving of Wasselonne to Dabo and Sarrebourg (RD 224 then RD 45).
The vault Holy-Marie-with-the Assomption, classified with the Historic buildings in 1862 is a sandstone building dating from the 13th century and belonged to the monastery of Obersteigen of which are still visible the refectory, a tower of guet as well as the old house of the prior. In addition, sandstone a water pipeline of the Vosges east still in place in the close forest.
Obersteigen was a transitory commune, attached before 1794 to Engenthal.
