Oba of the Benign one

The Oba of Benign the is leading old Royaume of Benign the. It does not have any more reality capacity since the annexation of the kingdom by the Britannique S in 1897. It however keeps an advisory role within the government. It keeps also a strong influence on the Edo population for which it has a divine semi nature. Its palate is in the current city of Benin City (State d' Edo, Nigeria).
History
First Oba of Benign is Eweka, the son of Oranmiyan, a prince come from Ife which destroyed the tyrannical dynasty of Ogisos which reigned since 35 generations on the Edo people, and of Ekinwide a Edo princess. Initially the capacity remained with the council of the chiefs, Uzama, with Oba at its head. Under the reign of Oba Ewedo, which transfer the capital to Ubini, the capacity starts to pass more firmly in the hands of Oba. Starting from Oba Ewuare its capacity becomes absolute and the title becomes hereditary.
Life
In its youth Oba is raised by the queen mother in a palate with a few kilometers of the capital, far from the crashes of the course.
Arrived at the report heading the life of Oba is especially rythmée by the innumerable ceremonies and ritual sacrifices. The remainder of its time is devoted to its wife hundred, whereas the daily of the capacity in the soldier fields, economic or agricultural exercise is delegated to advisers.
The oba lives in an immense palate out of wooden located at the center of the city. The walls are decorated with carved brass plates.
The tradition tells that with Benign, the habit was to decapitate the overcome kings. Their head was offered to the victorious oba which entrusted it to the craftsmen bronziers.
