Saint Armand (or Hartmann ) lived at the 12th century. Monk originating in Bavaria, it endeavoured to reform the communities about the regular Chanoines of saint Augustin. Bishop of Bozen-Brixen (Bolzano-Bressanone), in the the Italian Tyrol, it died in 1164.

Armand is a name of anybody Germanic formed of the roots hardware (hard) and man (man).
