OTH

OTH is a Groupe headlight of the alternative Rock and Punk French of the beginning of the Années 1980.

The five “urban Indians” montpelliérains who compose the group plunge quickly in the wave Punk because of their taste for the acid texts mixing humor and violence, as well as the rhythmic ones jerked which correspond well to their war against the capacity and the hierarchies. Each text is a slogan, targeted more and more progressively of their career, and OTH is regarded today as one of the best French punk groups of this time of precursors.

The name of the group, OTH means “one to try hooks” which wants to say on burning coals , the title of their second album.

Composition of the group

Biography

It is in 1978 that is born group OTH. At the beginning they are 5 young people who undertake to torture their first guitars in the cellars of one quoted montpelliéraine. They baptize their group: O.T.H. (According to the British expression " One To try Hook " , literally " On coals ardents").

They make their first appearances on the scenes of Germany and Spain. On this occasion, it records K7: " Classified XXX". They do the One of France-Evening and thus obtain their first victory: a room of rock'n'roll for the musicians and the public montpelliérain.

In 1982, OTH leaves its first 45 Turns Musique Reached at R.C.A. If it meets a real success, on the other hand the members of the group maintain the conflict relationship with their recording company. OTH breaks its contract then and decides to be invested in an independent adventure. Concerts in festivals, with the groups of its generation (Camera Silens, Individual Track, the Bleaks, the Mouse Déglinguée), the group acquires experiment and a faithful public.

In 1984, the group leaves its first LP which is entitled " Réussite". Without any promotion, the group multiplies the concerts and produces a video first as well as first live K7, Cœur And Cuir .

In 1986, with the exit of their second album, On burning coals , OTH shows that its music matured and that it handles the texts with agility, humor and a constant violence.

They multiplies then the concerts, 60 dates into 1987 to the four corners of the hexagon. The same year, OTH leaves one 45 turns: " Fatal" animal;. One of the titles of the group, the School Of the Street , appears simultaneously on compilation " My Big brother Is Rocker".

Their third album leaves in 1988 and is recorded with the Studio Colors by Laurent Thibault. The 9 titles of Sauvagerie come to enrich an already important repertory by 80 pieces of merry and contagious insolence. This album shows an astonishing sound maturity. Texts, tended and baited, happy with the laughing stories about galères and girls. OTH starts a round in France then, then in Suisse and with the Canada.

The following year, OTH leaves a live and makes a Round " Rock'n'roll in France" who has a large success. OTH also takes part in the Printemps of Bourges.

In 1990, OTH leaves revolted block B , where 8 titles " appear; collector" before leaving a new album, Explorateur which diverts because it more is polissé, more softened. The group leaves then in round, " Tour" explorer; and will confirm that it did not lose anything of its electric rage through the 80 Frenchwoman cities in which he will play.

After 13 years of good and faithful services, O.T.H. separates in 1991. As a good-bye, they leave an album live, the last for the street . Concise, aggressive, this recording-will buckles one fulgurating career là-même where these montpelliérains was Masters: the saigneux Art of the scene.

In 1995, the group leaves Anarchives a compilation which reactualizes and testifies to the believed and direct talent of these fire-rockers through 13 their remixés titles.
