Technology OPC appeared in 1995. This technology dedicated to the interworking of system industrialists meant initially OLE for Process Control . OPC is not a Communication protocol but a technology based on technologies OLE, COM, and DCOM developed by Microsoft for its family of operating systems. Today, OPC is a trade mark of Foundation OPC. the technologies developed by Foundation OPC are based not only on COM/DCOM but also on work of W3C and OASIS.
