The association OJD (registered trademark, to which any more no developed official name corresponds) is a French professional association whose role is to certify the diffusion, the distribution and the enumeration of the newspapers, periodic S and of any other support of Publicité.
“Well before the second world war, in 1922, the industrialists advertisers had thought that a metric system was essential to measure the veracity of the figures of pulling announced by the Press, and encouraged the initiative which took with courage Martial Buisson. The OJT (Office of justification of pullings) became in 1948 the OJD, because only the diffusion is the base of any honest negotiation. General secretary, Martial Bush, helped in this heavy task by Jean Bonherbe, reaches the Presidency until 1971. ” Michel Cazé, honorary president of UDA, founding member of the OJD (article published in 1977).
In 1963, the same Martial Buisson creates in Stockholm the International federation of all the OJD, the IFABC, of which he will be also the honorary president.

The figures of the OJD are used for the development of the advertizing rates of the certifés supports. They also serve, in many cases, basic of reference for the Public authorities, the administration or the courts when the question arises of knowing with exactitude the diffusion of certain supports.
The diffused quantity gives an indication on the importance of the title and is used as reference mark for the advertisers. However, the calculation of the diffusion does not take into account the many unsold goods turned over by the newsagents (rate of unsold goods sometimes higher than 50% of the distributed quantity) what of course distorts the appreciation.
In November 2004, Diffusion Controls took the name OJD , corresponding to the initials used since 1946.
Currently, the director of the OJD is Philippe Rince.
The OJD, through Multi-media Office Internet, also decided to measure the audience of Internet sites by proposing the certification of the audiences, the objective being always to propose a comparable and reliable indicator between the various supports.
With this intention, the OJD labélisé some tools (Xiti, Wysistat, Weboscope, Estat) using the technology known as of the markers " TAG". Only these tools are entitled to be used to measure the audience of Internet sites wishing to obtain the certification of their audience. The indicators proposed with certification are for the moment the number of visits and the number of monthly unique visitors.
