OAO Severstal-Avto

OAO Severstal-Avto (ОАО “Северсталь-авто”) is a Russian company belonging to the group Severstal. Itself is a holding controlling several other companies related to automotive engineering:

OAO Ulyanovsk Automobile Works (UAZ) is one of the principal manufacturers Russian of the cross-country vehicles (4x4), minibus and light trucks;
OAO Zavolzhye Motor Works (ZMZ) is the largest manufacturer, in Russia, of diesel engines 4 - and 8-cylinders for the cross-country cars, the light vans, trucks and the buses;
OAO ZMA holds a license to assemble the vehicles of the manufacturers SsangYong and FIAT.

History

In December 2004, Severstal-Car signed a licensing agreement with the Korean manufacturer SsangYong for the production, in Russia, of SsangYong Rexton. The following year, the company signed an agreement to be the exclusive importer, in Russia, of the whole of the range of vehicles of SsangYong.

In December 2004, Severstal-Car signed an agreement with the Italian manufacturer FIAT for the assembly and the production of FIAT Palio, FIAT Albea and FIAT Doblò in Russia.

An agreement was also concluded, on July 11th, 2006, with the manufacturer japomais Isuzu for the assembly of trucks and the creation of a sales network in Russia.
