O\' Reilly Media
O' Reilly Media (in the past O' Reilly & Associates ) is a Société of American edition, founded by Tim O' Reilly in 1978, and whose principal activity is the publication of books concerning the Informatique.
In the beginning exclusively centered on the administration and the programming of the systems Unix, the books published by O' Reilly cover in the 2005 all fields of data processing. The publication of The Whole Internet User' S Guides & Catalog in 1992, by addressing to the new users networks, marked the beginning of the diversification of the editor.
The books published by O' Reilly have a strong distinctive mark: an image of animal xylographiée on white zone is reproduced indeed on the cover of the majority of their publications related at Unix and the programming. Since 2002, the books bound for the not-professionals gradually adopted new covers.
O' Reilly is at the origin of the system of publication in Safari line which makes it possible, by subscription, to reach simultaneously several works chosen among the near total of the books published by O' Reilly, but also by other American editors associated for the occasion.
The company is not satisfied to publish a great number of books, but accommodates also many annual conferences, and provides services online to the community Open source . Among the conferences, one could note the O' Reilly Emerging Technology Conference (22 April 25th, 2003) and the O' Reilly Open Source Convention (7 July 11th, 2003) with Portland (Oregon).

O' Reilly adopted the durations of Copyright 1790, which limit the protection of the texts published during one 28 years maximum duration; what is much shorter than the usual durations used by the remainder of the publishers.
