Nymphalidae

The family of the nymphalidés ( Nymphalidae ) includes/understands more than 5000 species of butterflies in the world. One counts of them approximately 70 in Europe. They are in general butterflies of intermediate size or large to highly coloured wings. The first pair of legs is reduced. In the male, the legs are equipped with brushes formed by long hairy scales whereas they are with short hairs in the female. These butterflies use only four legs to work.
