Nutcase (Disney)
See also: Nutcase (homonymy)
Dingo (in English Goofy Goof ) is a Personnage of fiction of the universe of Mickey Mouse created by the Walt Disney Company in 1932.
This dog Anthropomorphe is one of the best friends of Mickey. Its principal characteristic is a great awkwardness. These last years, it was proposed by Disney in its advertizing campaigns. One even associated a nephew, Gilbert, and a son, max… without specifying to him which is his/her mother.
Nutcase with the cinema
Nutcase appears for the first time in Mickey' S Revue , the May 25th 1932. Realized by Wilfred Jackson, this short film puts in Mickey scene, Minnie Mouse, Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow which occurs in concert. Among the spectators is a dog baptized Dippy Dawg , whose coarse and noisy behavior quickly irritates its neighbors who end up striking it. This primitive version of Nutcase slices with what will become the character: it is an old Mister equipped with a goatee and a bulky tail, and which carries neither pants yet, nor below. On the other hand, it has already its characteristic laughter (invented by the actor Pinto Colvig).
It is Dippy Dawg considerably renovated which one finds in The Whoopee Party , the September 17th 1932. It will make 4 appearances this year and two others in 1933. It is however only in the Official reception of the Orphans , the August 11th 1934, which he will be definitively baptized " Goofy" (what wants to say in English: nutcase ) and will become a regular member of the gang at the sides of other newcomers: Donald Duck and Clara Cluck.
Mickey' S Service Station carried out by Ben Sharpsteen the March 16th 1935 mark the first adventure of the trio Mickey/Donald/Goofy. These films all are based on the same model: confronted with a series of problems, they try to find a solution act all the three of them in a separate way according to their character. The conclusion joins together them, often with their depend. Cleaning of pendulums , left the October 15th 1937, and the solitary Ghosts , left the December 24th 1937, are often regarded as the best episodes of the series. In this last, the trio, made up in " company of extermination of Ajax" phantoms; (precursors to some extent of the Ghostbusters), is engaged to clean a haunted house of its cumbersome inhabitants. Nutcase pronounces one of his most memorable counterparts there: brave I' m drank I' m careful ( I am courageous but I am careful! ).
During the series, the role of Mickey decreases gradually with the profit of his/her comrades for a simple reason: between frustrated Donald and Nutcase the dreamer, Mickey appears quickly as that which must keep the feet on the ground and it is thus difficult to entrust gags to him. Arctic Trappers , left the June 17th 1938, mark thus the first adventure of Nutcase and Donald without Mickey. Owners of the " Donald and Goofy Trapping Co." , our heroes drive out - without success one suspects it - the Morse with the North pole. Mickey is however of return in Chasseurs of whales , left the August 19th 1938, which will mark the last service of the trio to the " era classique".
Goofy and Wilbur , realized by Dick Huemer and left the March 17th 1939, constitutes the first adventure of Nutcase in solo. In years 1940 and 50, Dingo becomes the high-speed motorboat of the series of the How to… . Does nutcase speak there little, a narrator ensuring the comment, but it pushes regularly there its famous cry (pain?) : the " Goofy holler". How to Play Baseball (1942) New Year's gift a narrative process where all the characters of film are alternatives of the main character. Nutcase thus gains a psychological thickness by endorsing the stereotype of " Mr. All-the-monde" with the catches with quantity of daily problems. The process reaches its apogee in No Smoking (November 23rd 1951) in which Dingo, in a world of Nutcases, hopelessly tries to get rid of its addiction to the Nicotine. The film also makes figure exception in the policy of the Disney studios, which had as a rule to avoid very polemical, at one time when to smoke was still regarded as naturalness and developing.
The last important appearance of Nutcase goes back to 1965 in Goofy' S Freeway Trouble . On the other hand, it joins again with success on television in the years 1990 with its own series: the Band with Nutcase (Goof Troop) . With his son max and its Waffles cat, he is confronted with his neighbor Pat Hibulaire and with his family. Two feature-length films will take as a starting point the series: Nutcase and max (Goofy Movie has) in 1995 and Dingo and max 2: Sportsmen of the extreme (Year Extremely Goofy Movie) in 2000.
In parallel, Dingo finds his traditional personality in the series Mickey Mouse Works , Disney' S all out of box , and the House of Mickey .
Analyzes of the character
In the middle of the years 1930, the Disney studios gave courses to the stimulating apprentices so that they know once and for all how to animate each character. If the majority of the courses, given by experienced artists, were very technical, the analysis of Nutcase by Art Babbitt was regarded as limpid and remarkable. Here what he said:
-
“It is difficult to say what, in Dingo, belongs to the mental or physical field since these characteristics intermingle, is reflected, and helps with their mutual development. Consequently, I must all say at the same time: imagine Dingo like the compound of an optimist indécrottable, a good Samaritan credulous, an imbecile and a country bumpkin flemmard but easy to live. It shaking and is dégingandé without being rubbery.
-
It can be pressed if it is really needed but preferred to avoid any superfluous excitation, and thus acts in the direction of the facility. It is a philosopher of counter. Though it arrives, all is for best, or at least for more amusing. It is always ready to help people, and proposes his assistance even when she is not asked, thus worsening the situations. It is seldom, not to never say, that it achieves its goals or finishes a work. It is difficult for him to concentrate more few moments on something: least small distraction fate of its thoughts. But it is not an imbecile which one has pity. He does not dribble, nor does not push uncontrolled howls.
-
It has a small interior music, always the very one, that it fredonne when it works or reflects. He speaks himself with itself because it is easier to him to know than it thinks by formulating it initially.
-
It does not have any maintenance. Its back is cambered in the bad direction and its small stomach is protuberant. Its head, its stomach and its knees involve its body. Its neck long and is emaciated, its knock knees and its broad and flat feet. It goes on the heels, the raised toes. Its narrow shoulders which subsiding quickly give the impression that the top of its body is mean and that its arms are long and heavy, although they are not drawn thus. Its hands are delicate and expressive and, although its gestures are full, they translate the gentleman.
-
One should not design Dingo like a simple sausage equipped with sprinkler pipes. Although it is flexible and flexible, its body always has a firmness and a weight. The swing of its arms and its legs must be obtained by a succession of ruptures in the articulations rather than by imitating the swinging of a cord. It is not muscular but however has the force and the strength of a nervous person.
-
Its clothing is badly adjusted: its pants float with the knees and vainly try to hide its socks. It hangs on the buttocks and strongly narrows with the crotch. Its sweater is enough grinding, except around the neck, and its waistcoat is too small. Its is quoted of a flexible fabric which gives him the alive air.
-
the head of Nutcase can be considered as the caricature of a person to pointed cranium; large eyes dreamers, prominent teeth and a receding chin, a large mouth, a thick lower lip, a thick language and a bulbous nose which is widening and with the turned up end. Its eyes must remain mi-clos in order to preserve its deadened appearance, although he fights constantly against the sleep. But they can, of course, open large according to the expressions. He blinks eyes moderately.
-
It is extremely timid. However, when something of stupid arrives to him, it fixes the camera as an actor amateur which would have close relations in the public, trying to hide his embarrassment by mimicry at their address. It is in contact with the spirits, fairies and other creatures supernatural. Each object or wheel of mechanism, which for us is inanimate, has a heart and a personality in its spirit.
-
the improbable one becomes reality when Dingo is implied. It has a marvellous muscular control of its posterior. It can carry out a quantity of distorsions with and one should not hesitate to use it each time the possibility arises of exaggerating a comic posture.
-
This small analysis detailed Dingo of the head to the feet, and having arrived at these ends, I stop. ”

Nutcase as cartoons
The Comic strip S of Mickey Mouse drawn by Floyd Gottfredson in general put in scene the daily life of Mickey Mouse. But when Donald Duck had his own series following its success, Disney did not authorize any more the author to use it in his stories. Nutcase thus remained like only additive of Mickey, the two universes (mouse of Mickeyville and ducks of Donaldville) crossing more and more seldom. The first appearance of Nutcase in the weekly strips takes place on January 8th, 1933. Its first complete history, Mickey and the Three Robbers (The Crazy Wave Crime) , is published from October 9th, 1933 to January 9th, 1934.
The character constituted with the wire of time an large family although discrete. In May 1954, Dingo was equipped with a nephew, Gilbert, as intelligent as Dingo is naive. The Italian draftsman Romano Scarpa invented to him in 1957 a brother " sauvage" living in the jungle: Digotarzan ( Pappo in Italian). In October 1965, one just like learned that Dingo could take the features of Super Nutcase by introducing magic Cacahuète S, Gilbert became Super Gilbert.
The May 21st 1986, French Claude Marin draws the character of Nutcase under the appearance of a baby for the series Bébés Disney whose publication began in the number 1769 from the Journal from Mickey .
In 1990, Disney launched Goofy Adventures , a magazine entirely reserved for Dingo but success was not with go and the publication ended with the seventeenth number.
In France, Dingo was called successively Piloche , Quenotte (1935), Mould-with-Waffles , Achille Nigaudot (1936), Goofy or Goufy before adopting his final name in 1937.
Video games
Nutcase directs the royal guard of the Disney castle in the series of the Kingdom Hearts . Instead of using weapons, it fights only with one shield. Its work was not very fascinating, because the castle was in a peaceful country, until the king Mickey Mouse disappears. According to a letter left by the king, him and Donald Duck (here magician of the court) start with Sora (the real hero of the play) a long search. In this series, Dingo has especially a comic role.
He also appears, with his son max, in a play of logic on Super Nintendo entitled Goof Troop .
