Nullsoft

Nullsoft is a company created in 1997, at the beginning of the explosion of the Internet by Justin Frankel, to develop its software Winamp. Its name turns around the derision of Microsoft, because nothing ( no one English ) is much smaller than micro . To note that their mascot is a LAMA named Mike. Also called DJ Mike the LAMA, it became popular then was adopted as mascot with the sound extract provided with Winamp which said “ Winamp, it really whips the llama' S ass! ” which results in “Winamp, really makes stir up the bottom of a LAMA! ”.

Nullsoft is also at the origin of the tool NSIS allowing the creation of installor for Windows.

The company was repurchased by AOL in 1999, for more than 80 million dollars, and was liquidated since fusion with Time Warner.
