Nulliparous

Definition
It is said that a woman is nulliparous (of nulli = no and = Parturition or childbirth avoids) when it been confined forever. This term is often confused with the term Nulligeste (of gesture = Gestation or pregnancy) which designates a woman who forever be pregnant.
The Parité thus indicates the number of childbirth of a woman.
This obstétrical term is used to indicate the number of childbirth of a woman:
- Primipare designates a woman who is confined for the first time.
- Secondipare (not very used) designates a woman who is confined for the second time.
- In practice as soon as a woman was confined once one speaks about Multipare without taking account of the number of childbirth.
- Finally when the woman was confined more than five times, one speaks about large multipare.
For example, a nulliparous fourth gesture is an expectant mother for the fourth time but whose three pregnancies did not lead to a child (whatever the cause, miscarriage, IVG or GEU).
