  • In connection with the teaching into Breton and also of Breton in the mediae, it writes a text which appears in the " Mixtures offered to Per Denez " ED. by Hor Yezh/university Presses of Rennes, 1999 suppl with the Klask review, ISBN 2-910699-31-5: Extract of Article " Brittany in search of identity: the relation with the language, p.p. 423-425: " Endogenous dynamics… Diwan is born at the end of the Seventies. We are at the end one decade which saw creating the courses of Breton optional, in secondary education in particular. The installation of these courses was the fruit of an intense militant investment. For various reasons…, the results were not with the measurement of the accomplished effort. The Diwan project falls under a different logic. It takes as a starting point experiments made elsewhere in Europe, in the Basque Country in particular. It is not a question any more of amending the education system in order to lead it to take into account Breton specificity. It is a question, on the contrary, of completely creating a course around an endogenous teaching project. A need was determined: the social request exists. Families wish a schooling into Breton. Thus let us create the educational tools which are to us lacking on the basis of our own means. This step is characteristic of a new frame of mind. One does not beg any more has l" State-providence" a recognition and a taking into account in its structures. One creates his own institution starting from local specific reality. And by the company " école" , the language was integrated into the economic channel…. The economic field is circumscribed still too much. The educational investment currently mobilizes many energies. Certain fields of creation, like the audio-visual one, undoubtedly suffer from it. Beyond of a culture of the claim which begs always much in the State, the alternative creation projects are long in succeeding: if the Breton ones will have soon a radio which will emit only in their language, television is quasi exclusively French-speaking.
