Nuevo Santander

Nuevo Santander (" the News Santander ") was an area of News-Spain, corresponding to the acutel Mexican state of Tamaulipas and to the south of the Texas, until the Rio Nueces. The area drew its name from the town of Santander in Spain, it was colonized by Spanish at the time of a settlement campaign between 1748 and 1750. In 1776, Nuevo Santander belongs to the " provinces interns" semi-autonomous of News-Spain.
