Nucourt

Nucourt is a common department of the Val-d'Oise, in area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants is called Nucourtois (be).

Geography

The village is located in the middle of the Regional natural park of French Vexin, to approximately 50 km in the North-West of Paris.

History

Nucourt draws its name from Latin novus , new, and cortem , field, or Nucitum , new city, which became later Niukor, Nuescort, Nevcort, Nevcourt, Neucourt then Nucourt.

In 1944, the Germans used careers close for the assembly to the rockets V1. These careers were bombarded by the Allies to try to destroy these bases; the village was then shaven to 80%. The careers were walled since.

Monuments and places of visit

the church Saint-Quentin has the effect of being located at one kilometer of the village, which preserved it bombardments of 1944. The building has two bell-towers: the first of the 13th century is in the middle of the chorus; the other is a massive square tower of style Renaissance applied against the frontage. The original nave was replaced in 1540 by triple vessel. The transept dates from second half of the 12th century, the chorus was rebuilt at the 13th century.
