Nuclear plant of Takahama

The Nuclear plant of Takahama (高浜原子力発電所 " Takahama hatsudensho") is exploited by the electric Compagnie Kansaï .
It is located at Takahama a city of the Préfecture of Kyoto, in the area of the Kansai to the Japan.

Description

The power station of Takahama is equipped with 4 Nuclear reactors:
  • Takahama 1 : 780 MWe, REFERENCE MARK 3 loops, MSI in 1974.
  • Takahama 2 : 780 MWe, REFERENCE MARK 3 loops, MSI in 1975.
  • Takahama 3 : 830 MWe, REFERENCE MARK 3 loops, MSI in 1984.
  • Takahama 4 : 830 MWe, REFERENCE MARK 3 loops, MSI in 1984.
NB: MSI = brought into service industrial
The 1st engine was built by American Westinghouse and the three following by Japanese Mitsubishi.

Currently, two of the engines of Takahama are authorized to use fuel MOX. Certain Japanese groups dispute the use of this fuel fearing that it can be diverted at ends militaires.

In August 2004, the engine n°4 of the power station was stopped in order to carry out security checks.
