Nuclear plant of Pilgrim

The Nuclear plant of Pilgrim is located on the east coast of the the United States at a few km at the South of Plymouth Rock and it is at present the only nuclear plant installed in the Massachusetts.

Description

This power station is equipped with an ebullient water reactor (REB) of design General Electric which built by Bechtel:
  • Pilgrim : 690 MWe, brought into service in 1972 per 40 years (2012).
Its construction ordered by " Boston Edison" cost 231 million $. In 1999, this power station was sold with the group Entergy Corporation based in Louisiana to respect a complex engagement resulting from the deregulation of electric industry américaine.

Like the other nuclear plants of the United States, Pilgrim must keep its fuel spent in a swimming pool of storage on the site, while waiting for a federal decision which will decide where the worn fuels could be stored for their lifespan. The Montagne of Yucca in the Nevada is currently the only site which is considered for the faire.
