The Nuclear plant of Hinkley Point is a power station installed close to Bridgwater on the coast of the Somerset, in the south-west of the England, to approximately 8 km of the estuary of the river Parrett, on a ground of 19,4 hectares.
It includes/understands two units Hinkley Point has and B , the unit has currently being stopped definitively.
Description
Hinkley Point has
The construction of Hinkley Point has had started in 1957 and the power station had started to produce electricity in 1965.This unit was one of the eleven nuclear plants including/understanding two engines of the type Magnox, and which were installed in the United Kingdom between 1956 and 1971.
During its 35 years of production, Hinkley Point has produced more than 103 TWh of electricity before stopping in the year 2000.
Hinkley not B
The construction of Hinkley Point B started in 1967 and the electrical production in 1976.This unit includes/understands two advanced engines with the gas (AGR) with a total production capacity of 1250 MWe. Currently and following their ageing, each engine cannot produce any more but 570 MWe instead of 625 MWe what makes 1140 MWe.

The power station was built by the Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB). She was entrusted to Nuclear Electric at the time of the privatization of the electric industry of the United Kingdom in 1989, of this fact she belonged to the public domain. In 1996, power stations AGR and PWR of Nuclear Electric and Scottish Nuclear were privatisées and yielded to the company British Energy.
This unit must be stopped in 2011.
